Grede Hosts Congressman Benishek
Iron Mt., Mich. – February 13, 2011 – Grede Holdings LLC, a leading producer of cast iron components for the automotive, heavy truck and industrial markets, and a major employer in the Iron Mt. area, hosted U.S. Congressman Daniel Benishek on Friday, Feb. 10. The visit was the Congressman’s first to the Grede facility.
The Republican Congressman, from Michigan’s First District, toured the foundry, met with employees and listened to a presentation about Grede and the impact its Iron Mt. foundry has on both the local and national economies. Benishek talked about the various activities he is involved in and shared his thoughts on legislative issues facing Congress.
“We are very pleased to have Congressman Benishek visit us,” said Bill Goodin, vice president, Human Resources. “We used the opportunity to introduce the Congressman to Grede, and we had a very fruitful discussion about the successful working environment here at Iron Mt. We also talked about our long-term commitment to the community and the industries we serve.”
“It was an honor to visit the Grede facility in Iron Mountain. I enjoyed learning about their business and ways federal policy can allow them to expand and create jobs. Like many other important job providers in the First District, Grede’s employees and managers work hard every day to deliver high quality products to their customers,” said Benishek, a surgeon from Iron River.
Also in attendance for the visit were local officials, including Henry Wender, Dickinson County Board of Commissioners chairman; Jordon Stanchina, Iron Mt. city manager; Michael Flaminio, mayor of Kingsford; and Dr. Patrick Kennedy, president of Bay de Noc Community College, among others. Representing Grede for the visit, besides Mr. Goodin, was Randy Priem, general manager, Grede Iron Mt.
